5-day intensive workshop
Are you a passionate ballet dancer of grade 5 or intermediate foundation standard and over?
If you like to be challenged and want to improve and expand yourself creatively, then Professional Ballet Lab is the course for you!
This week-long intensive provides talented dancers with an opportunity to becomes immersed in the professional ballet company setting as they further develop their technique and creative skills and experience first-hand the development of a new dance work.
Following on from the success of last year, Ruaidhrí Maguire’s Professional Ballet Lab returns for summer 2022!
Your day will follow that of a professional ballet company, including a schedule of:

Training and Technique

Coaching of Classical Repertoire

The opportunity to be part of the development of a new ballet

Exploring new ways to broaden and experiment with the classical technique and vocabulary
In 2021 we worked on solos and group dances from Giselle, Don Quixote and some new creations.
The week will conclude with an informal studio sharing for family and friends.
WHO IS IT FOR?
Professional Ballet Lab has been created for passionate dancers of ballet standard grade 5 or intermediate foundation and above.
You do not need to have any formal examinations and any equivalent level is welcome. If you're unsure about this, please ask your dance teacher or feel free to contact Ruaidhrí using the contact box here.
There will be opportunities for pointe work for dancers that feel comfortable, although this is not required.

a helpful, professional environment
Ruaidhrí is a choreographer and the youngest male soloist of the Baltic Opera Ballet in Poland, dancing roles such as Cinderella’s Prince, Albrecht in Giselle and the Nutcracker Prince. He has danced and choreographed across the USA, Canada, Poland and the UK and Ireland.
He is passionate about working with the next generation of dancers and performers from Northern Ireland and has worked extensively with individuals and youth groups as both teacher and choreographer. Ruaidhrí believes in making ballet accessible to all communities and in challenging any preconceived conceptions about ballet as an elitist art form.
Ruaidhrí is Access NI (DBS) checked and holds a valid certificate.

BY CAR
The studio is a 15 minute drive from Belfast, Bangor and Newtownards.
BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT
The studio is a 5 minute walk from Holywood train station, which is on the Bangor line. This stop is a 10-minute journey from Belfast Lanyon Place and a 20-minute journey from Belfast Great Victoria Street.
A direct bus service also runs between Holywood and Belfast and Holywood and Bangor.
